Sanshoen Bonsai Garden was opened by Hideo Yamaji,my father, in 1960.back then,bonsai growers in Takamatsu including my father,were basically rice farmers.
In those days, bonsai material was collected from nature.bonsai trees grown in Takamatsu became
popular souvenirs purchased by travellers who came from mainland of Japan.One of the popular species
was the Nishiki matsu(Pinus thunbergii corti cosa),which was field grown.
I graduaterd from Kansai Gaidai junior college in Osaka in 1974 and returned to Sanahoen Bonsai Garden in Takamtsu to
start bonsai cultivation.As I speak English,my goal was to export bonsai internationally;this ambition
remains till today.
we have quarantine station registered trees intended for the European Communities and USA.
Our bonsai can be seen and purchased in JA Kagawa Kokubunji Bonsai Center and Tamamo Garden in downtown Takamatsu city.
